Safety

HELMETS
The FIS and SSGB have now made helmets compulsory for all races organised under theri rules. The helmet details can be found in the FIS equipment rules 2007/08. For the RAF 2008 Championships, approved design helmets are mandatory for all snowboard races and for the Individual (BASS) ski races. We strongly recommend and encourage the wearing of an approved design helmet in all other races. In addition, we endorse the wider use of helmets during recreational skiing.

It is the RAF WSAA’s wish to make RAF sponsored skiing and snowboarding (not just racing) as safe as possible. There is an increasing move towards the wearing of helmets at all times when skiing/boarding, a move which we strongly endorse.

We do not recommend any particular supplier or safety equipment.
